X reacts as Man Utd edge out Wolves in deadline day thriller
- Man Utd beat Wolves 4-3 at Molineux on Thursday
- Kobbie Mainoo with stoppage-time winner just after Pedro Neto had equalised
- Marcus Rashford had opened scoring after testing week off the pitch

Who would have thought the most entertaining thing about a deadline day would be Manchester United winning at Wolves, eh?
It's a funny old game, football. Stupid, daft, hilariously funny. Tonight, the pendulum of chaos swung in favour of the Red Devils, but boy did they make it hard for themselves in their 4-3 victory.
Maybe there is hope in Erik ten Hag's project after all. It doesn't look like his players have lost faith in him, at least.
Casemiro has missed much of the season through injury, though didn't need long to readjust to life in the Premier League. He picked up a booking after just two minutes.
It's taken two minutes for Casemiro to pick up a booking

Casemiro doesn’t play like an experienced player sometimes, relax brother ffs

Better things were in the post for United though, with Marcus Rashford giving them the lead with five minutes on the clock, putting a definitive end to a week of turmoil off the pitch.
Marcus Rashford heard all of you talking nonsense.

That Rashford goal: a great advert for a night on the p***

Three goals in three PL games for Marcus Rashford.

Midway through the first half, United scrambled in a second. Luke Shaw's low cross was deflected on by Max Kilman through the legs of Jose Sa and off the shins of Rasmus Hojlund. It was a rather confusing goal to say the least.
Rasmus Hojlund has scored in 3 consecutive Premier League games:

A goal for Hojlund that's been assisted by a teammate? In the Premier League???

20 - Rasmus Højlund has now both scored and assisted in each of his last two Premier League appearances - at the age of 20 years and 362 days, he is the youngest Manchester United player to achieve this, with Cristiano Ronaldo the previous youngest, aged 21 in 2007. The partnership between Rashford and Shaw was proving tough for Wolves to deal with.

Yeah, this Rashford x Shaw link-up... United have missed it SO much.

What a start.
Rasmus Hojlund has registered four goals and two assists in his last five games.
Just before the break, United had two goals ruled out for offside - one from Hojlund and one from Casemiro.

Two offside goals ffs

The return of Lisandro Martinez could help United so much in the second half of the season, with the diminutive defender clearing a header off the line just after half-time.
Lisandro Martinez 👏

It’s quite insane what a difference Lisandro makes

United spurned several chances to put the game to bed and Wolves were handed a lifeline when they were awarded penalty, with Casemiro clipping the foot of Pedro Neto, though contact appeared minimal.
That can’t be a penalty 🤷♂️😂😂
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) February 1, 2024
That is so incredibly soft 😂
— Footy Accumulators (@FootyAccums) February 1, 2024
I don't actually know what a penalty is anymore..
Pablo Sarabia stepped up and slotted home, but before too long, Scott McTominay restored United's two-goal cushion.

Scott Mctominay wasn't hanging around in making himself United's highest Premier League scorer of the season after coming off the bench! 👏 pic.twitter.com/rns4ssYyHz
He's still not my preferred option, but 15 minutes of McTominay against tired legs is nowhere near the same level of awful as trying to build the entire XI around him
— Aaron Moniz (@amonizfootball) February 1, 2024
But that wasn't to be that just yet. Kilman bundled home from a corner heading into the last few minutes of normal time to set up a nervy finish.
3-2. Kilman. FFS.

Kilman
Can’t believe Dalot is not leaving the line to the Wolves players offside https://t.co/xlWjLPOQ59
And wouldn't you just know it, Wolves found an equaliser deep into added time, with Neto coming in from the right and beating Andre Onana at the near post.
This will feel like a defeat for United. How they got countered there when 3-2 up deep into added time is borderline unforgivable. Antony has been a liability almost every time he has got the ball. #mufc

Pedro Neto will cost someone £100m+ in the summer.
— Rob Davies (@ByRobDavies) February 1, 2024
Absolutely irresponsible of Manchester United to commit those sorts of numbers forward at 3-2 in stoppage time.
— Dom Smith (@MrDomSmith) February 1, 2024
But there was still time for one final twist. Kobbie Mainoo, United's newest homegrown hero, drove forward and found the net to snatch the three points back.

4-3 Manchester United.

Mainoo, the saviour of Ten Hag and Manchester United. What a player.
