My oh my. You think you've seen it all. And then a game like this happens.
And let's be clear - the quality in this match was not particularly high. Chelsea beat Manchester United 4-3 on Thursday night, but neither really earned the win, more that both tried their best to lose.
It seemed destined to be a crazy evening from the off. After only four minutes, Chelsea went ahead through Conor Gallagher, who was able to guide the ball home after Malo Gusto's cross deflected to him off the heels of Raphael Varane.
GALLAGHER GOALLLLLLL

WE BACK ALREADY 😭😭😭😭 https://t.co/IBfDGQJMBx pic.twitter.com/ZnOiOu3jdk
This is the Gallagher that’s apparently not good enough to start for Chelsea?

Joke of a fanbase.
2016 - Conor Gallagher's opener (3:38) was Chelsea's earliest Premier League goal against Manchester United since Pedro's strike after 30 seconds in October 2016. Blocks. pic.twitter.com/QwVSMJbQem

Before United could create a meaningful attack, they conceded a penalty - Antony clipped Marc Cucurella's heels and the referee was quick to point to the spot. Cole Palmer then made no mistake from 12 yards, silencing the away fans who had chanted he was a 'City reject'.
Antony has been directly involved in more goals (1 -penalty conceded) for Chelsea than he has for Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

No words. 🤐🤐🤐 pic.twitter.com/s8qnyIJgA6
I would pay very good money for a look-in on those reports leading to the decision to pay €95m for Antony.

Chelsea were cruising and looking for a third, but they were the architects of their own first-half downfall. Moises Caicedo gifted the ball to Alejandro Garnacho, who sprinted through and slotted beyond Djordje Petrovic to get United off the mark.
Do I dare speak on Caicedo there or are Chelsea fans gonna pretend like that’s a rarity this season?

Oi, this Caicedo performance LOOOOL

And moments later, United were level, with Diogo Dalot crossing for an unmarked Bruno Fernandes to head home at the far post.
Six Chelsea outfield players in their own box and only two United players in the area, and yet somehow Fernandes was unmarked to score the equaliser. pic.twitter.com/FEeUthPjC6

United started the second half brightly and nearly turned the game completely around when Harry Maguire dribbled his way through the Chelsea box before firing over.
Hahaha what a run from Maguire 😂
— Stretford Paddock (@StretfordPaddck) April 4, 2024
Maguire plays like that one CB in pro clubs that keeps trying to score 😭

A frantic affair swung the way of United midway through the second half when Antony chalked up his first assist of the season, finding the head of Garnacho with a tremendous outside-of-the-boot cross.
Feels like Antony has dribbled past Curcurella more often tonight than he has, in totality, dribbled past players in his entire time in the Premier League.
— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) April 4, 2024
This the best Antony has ever played for Man Utd, fair enough

Chelsea didn't threaten a lot until the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time when Noni Madueke was bundled over by Dalot, who had slipped and lightly caught the winger on his way over. VAR took a good long look at the challenge before agreeing with the referee's decision.
They looked at a “contact” point for that penalty for 5 minutes, watched Madueke take 3 steps afterwards before then going down and ruled it a penalty.
— Jack Fawcett (@JackFawcett1704) April 4, 2024
Shocker.
Madueke wins a late penalty. United do a United, but the point remains this is a shocking half from Chelsea.

Palmer again rolled the ball home from 12 yards to bring Chelsea level, but that's not where the madness ended.
Carney Chukwuemeka's strike almost immediately from the resulting kick-off was deflected behind, and from the resulting corner, Palmer scored the latest winner in Premier League history.
DJ, play One Step Beyond by Madness.

Cole Palmer: Born Is The King. 👑 pic.twitter.com/bOb4DxB28r
100:39 - Cole Palmer’s hat-trick goal for Chelsea tonight timed at 100:39 was the latest winning goal on record (since 2006-07) in a Premier League game. Mayhem. pic.twitter.com/2qdCNyUNYz

What now for United? How do they pick themselves off the canvas again? Why can't they seem to stop the rot?
99:17 - Manchester United were leading in this game at 99:17, the latest a side has ever led in a Premier League match they’ve gone on to lose. Collapse. pic.twitter.com/1DKFpBEmbG

I CELEBRATE EVERY SINGLE MANCHESTER UNITED LOSS. IT IS EVERYTHING. MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF. EVERYDAY YOUR MISERY FILLS ME WITH IMMENSE JOY. I CANNOT EVEN MUSTER THE WORDS RIGHT NOW. YOU ALL DESERVE TO SUFFER FOR ETERNITY. I WILL FOREVER LIVE THIS DOWN.

THANK YOU MANCHESTER UNITED pic.twitter.com/eFBak27zuw
Manchester United led 97th minute on Saturday and 97th minute on Thursday. Both against teams in the bottom half. They got 1 point from it. If there is a week that sums up that group of players and coaching staff, there it is.
