There's a majesty about Brazil that only they have among football's major nations.

They produce the best wonderkids. They play the most exciting football. They have the most passionate fans. And every now and then, they write their own fairytales.

Brazil headed to England to face England on Saturday night without much prayer of a result. They were without several key players and manager Dorival Junior had selected an experimental squad.

For the Three Lions, it was the chance to make a statement, to flex their muscle and puff out their chest against one of the world's most important names. And they blew it.

Manchester City fans would have been watching on in horror early on as they saw captain Kyle Walker succumb to a hamstring injury with a huge Premier League game against Arsenal on the horizon.

Lucas Paqueta was putting on a show in possession, but he was guilty of committing several cynical fouls. He was shown a yellow card eventually, but England wanted him sent off for continuing his offences after receiving this caution.

The two sides went into the break on level terms at 0-0, and England supporters weren't impressed with the opening 45.

The start of the second half did little to raise Wembley's excitement levels. It was paper aeroplane time.

Heading into the final 15 minutes, Manchester United fans were alerted by the introduction of Kobbie Mainoo for his England debut.

We were at last treated to a goal on 80 minutes through Endrick, who was on hand to poke home a rebound after Vinicius Junior's first shot was saved by Jordan Pickford.

Pickford made one final save to deny Endrick a brace when England threw everyone forward in the final minute of stoppage time, but the night belonged to the 17-year-old regardless.
