Manchester City won yet another piece of silverware this year as they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Fluminense in the final of the Club World Cup.
It was a walk in the park from the first whistle, with Julian Alvarez opening the scoring just 40 seconds into the game as he managed to scramble home the rebound from a ferocious Nathan Ake long-ranger.

City remained in control but feared they may have invited Fluminense back into the game when Ederson conceded a penalty midway through the half for tripping German Cano.
A penalty was awarded but quickly overruled by the offside flag, and a VAR check that lasted a matter of seconds verified Ruben Dias had played the offside trap to perfection.
How’s the nerve guys 😭 Yoo Ederson calm down

Honestly, I would’ve let Ortega play.

Ederson’s been making me nervous lately.
Ederson needs a a couple games out.

Phil Foden soon flipped the narrative back to one of control for City as he forced an own goal from centre-back Nino that doubled his side's advantage.
That's Foden's goal idc. 💙

While a comfortable victory was on the cards, City fans were left sweating at the sight of Rodri screaming in pain on the ground after being caught by a nasty challenge.
No no no no no Rodri is injured. My entire night is ruined

Winced at that replay. Looks bad for Rodri.

SOMEONE CHOP OFF MY ANKLE AND GIVE IT TO RODRI

Rodri would eventually be forced off injured, but not before Foden made sure to grab a goal of his own.
Alvarez found himself through down the left and drilled a low cross in for the England international, who could hardly miss from close range.
Foden has scored Ina CWC final, you can't tell me nothing

Phil Foden's goal in the club world cup final is bigger than Bukayo Saka's career pic.twitter.com/jSx8pDFkKs

Alvarez bagged his second of the game in the dying embers, fizzing into the bottom corner to tie the record for biggest victory in a Club World Cup final.
Alvarez playing as a striker? Clinical

This is what Alvarez does when he plays Striker and not this weird CAM role

While City pushed for that fifth, it was not forthcoming.
It mattered little in the end, however, with fans on social media simply delighted to get their hands on a new trophy.
