X reacts as Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich are thumped 5-1
- Bayern torn apart by struggling Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga clash
- Individual errors to blame as Thomas Tuchel's side collapse away from home
- Manchester United up next in final Champions League group game

Being a Bayern Munich fan has been rather fun for, well, forever.
In their 125-year existence, they have won the Bundesliga title a record 33 times, including the last 11 in a row, and have been crowned Champions of Europe on six occasions.
Bayern are also one of the most recognisable football brands in the world, able to attract the biggest and best players to play for them despite their complete domestic dominance.
A glance at their results from 2023/24 would tell you everything is still rosey. Unbeaten after 12 games in the league and top of their Champions League group with 13 points from a possible 15, what could possibly be wrong?
Nothing you'd have thought. Yet weirdly, under the guidance of former Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel, that isn't the case - even though Bayern have 8-0 and 7-0 wins under their belt.
There's murmurings of discontent between Tuchel and Bayern's board, namely over the depth of the club's playing squad, and the manager has regularly thrown his players under the bus for failing to adhere to his tactical instructions. In truth, he does have a point to a degree - for all of their quality, Bayern do have a habit of conceding some truly terrible goals.
Tuchel has even been falling out with prominent German pundits, namely club legend Lothar Matthaus. An ill-advised move, some might say.
Furthermore, Bayern appear to have a significant adversary for the title this season in the form of Bayer Leverkusen, so a disastrous display against Eintracht Frankfurt was the last thing they needed, wanted or expected.
But after an hour's play, Bayern were sensationally 5-1 down to Frankfurt, who incidentally were the last team to five past the Bavarian giants in the Bundesliga. As you might imagine, social media was full of beans over what was transpiring...
What's happening.

So what was the reason for Bayern's collapse?
Was it an overwhelmingly brilliant performance from Frankfurt? Or was it more of the self sabotage that Tuchel has been harping on about in interviews for weeks, if not months?
Sadly for Bayern's players, it was most definitely the latter.

Hall of shame performance from Mazraoui. We deserve to lose this game. Second time over 13 match days Leverkusen drop points and instead of showing a reaction what to do we? We lose π₯π₯π₯π₯

i can't even remotely blame Tuchel, it's all an accumulation of individual errors.

also, it's minute 60, and i still have no clue what Goretzka is contributing on the pitch; he looks clueless, literally. pic.twitter.com/D7xlGx0OSN
Individual mistakes costed us the game. It is what it is

Dont know how anyone could blame tuchel for this result lol 4 individual mistakes and we missed like 4 big chances already
β fcbKimmich (@w4nner7489) December 9, 2023
There were some, however, you think of the same blame does lie at Tuchel's feet.
Yes, individual mistakes are costing Bayern dearly, but there's an argument that too much tinkering with the team has actually broken something that didn't really need fixing.
The main bone of contention appeared to be in the wide areas, where Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman were lining up on opposite flanks...
Tuchel needs to stop this Coman RW & SanΓ© LW gimmick. We started playing better immediately once they switched sides again

Coman LW, SanΓ© RW. It would be so easy. Never fix something that ainβt broken Mr. Tuchel.

Tuchel always complains about having to play so many games & that the players are too fatigued.

Thomas Tuchel has been the worst Bayern Munich manager in recent years, they look nowhere near being good..π

Worth sparing a thought for Harry Kane, right?
After a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup kicked off Kane's career in Germany, he'd scored 22 goals in 18 games prior to kick off in Frankfurt. He deserves so much more...or does the funny thing really win out?

That's certainly one way to look at it, while those of a Tottenham Hotspur persuasion may also choose to look at this way after Bayern's social media recreated one of the most viral club tweets of all time...
