Best Premier League forwards - 2024/25 power rankings
- Premier League home to some of the world's most outstanding forwards
- Mohamed Salah the standout performer for league leaders Liverpool
- 2024/25 season power rankings fluctuates based on form over the campaign
Fans can appreciate those who prevent the goals from going in, but it's ultimately the folk doing the scoring who sell the tickets.
Fortunately, the Premier League is home to a fair few who know exactly where the back of the net is. The arrival of Erling Haaland has transcended what many once thought to be possible from a goalscoring perspective in this division and the Nordic superstar is on the prowl once again in 2024/25.
A deviation away from wingers who hit the byline and cross means wide players have emerged as regular scorers themselves and some of the league's finest inside forwards are among those most likely to challenge Haaland in the Golden Boot race.
90min ranks the Premier League's best forwards based on their 2024/25 performances.
5. Alexander Isak (Newcastle) - New entry
Newcastle's hitman up top has seven league goals to his name this term, with five of those coming since 2 November.
Isak's recorded eight goal contributions in his previous seven outings, with goals arriving on the big occasion against Arsenal and Liverpool. His finish against the latter will surely be a Goal of the Month contender.
The Swede's recent run has reminded us why the Toon Army are so desperate for Isak to prolong his stay on Tyneside. Newcastle are currently middling in mid-table, and a player of Isak's talent simply has to be performing in the Champions League.
A unicorn forward.
4. Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) ↔️
There was an initial impression that Nicolas Jackson was a bit of a nuisance forward but not much else. He was the sort of striker that defenders would hate facing, but his inability to convert chances ultimately rendered much of his hard work redundant.
Jackson showed promise during his debut season at Chelsea but struggled in front of goal at times. In year two, the striker is complementing his ever-evolving all-round game with a clinical touch in and around the box.
He loves playing with Cole Palmer, but he's not solely reliant on the Englishman's creative brilliance. Jackson is able to fashion openings for himself, and he's reaping the rewards.
3. Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest) ↔️
Chris Wood is into his eighth season as a Premier League player and in five of those campaigns he's scored at least 10 goals or more - a record that nobody seems to be talking about.
Sure, those aren't title-winning numbers, but they do highlight just how effective Wood is at this level. Just ask current employers Nottingham Forest if you're still unsure.
The New Zealand international is bullying defences across the league with his physicality and could be on a career-best haul of goals if the first half of 2024/25 is anything to go by.
2. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) ↔️
Bukayo Saka continues to go from strength to strength at Arsenal and is arguably their most important player.
Not only does the Englishman score goals at a frequent lick, but he also supplies his teammates with plenty and plays with a footballing intelligence well beyond his tender years.
Take Saka out of the Arsenal team for any length of time and it becomes apparent just how much Mikel Arteta relies on him.
Saka took responsibility in Martin Odegaard's absence but has undoubtedly benefitted greatly from his skipper's return from injury.
1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) ↔️
While Saka is beginning to develop that inevitable trait, Mohamed Salah has had it for years.
The Egyptian is weirdly underestimated by some but remains Liverpool's talismanic figure - one yet that could yet have another Premier League title in him before a potential Anfield exit.
At the very least, he's leapfrogged Jermain Defoe and Robbie Fowler in the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers, reinforcing his status as modern day legend.
