Premier League predictions: Gameweek 28
- Premier League returns after brief hiatus this weekend
- Gameweek kicks off with big game at the City Ground between Forest and Man City
- Arsenal travel to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to face Man Utd

It'll be nine days without Premier League football by the time Nottingham Forest kick off against Manchester City on Saturday, but the incessant stream of football means we haven't been found wanting in the meantime.
We enjoyed a superb weekend of FA Cup action before our eyes veered towards the continent for round of 16 first legs across three competitions. Molde's 3-2 victory over Legia Warsaw was a cracker on Thursday evening.
Anyway, that money guzzling machine that is the Premier League is back this weekend. We're entering 2024/25's final quarter, and despite the projected lack of drama at both ends of the table, the race for the European places is bound to take umpteen twists and turns before the season's out.
Here's how 90min is predicting every Gameweek 28 fixture to pan out.
Saturday 8 March
Manchester City closed the gap on third-place Nottingham Forest to just a point after winning at Spurs last time out in the Premier League. Surprise-package Forest have stuttered as of late, but the probability of the top five progressing into next season's Champions League supplies them with greater margin for error.
The two sides meet in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off with City aiming to usurp their hosts. The top half is ever so tight, and another Forest slip-up will condense the table further.
Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham are currently on the outside looking in, with the eighth-place Seagulls just a point better off than the Cottagers. Their meeting at the Amex is bound to be an excellent game with goals surely arriving at both ends of the pitch.
Crystal Palace are unlikely to make a late charge for Europe, but they are one of the league's form teams. The Eagles have won five of their previous six in all competitions as they prepare to host Ipswich Town this weekend. The visitors have lost four of their last five Premier League games and look consigned to the drop.
Southampton's fate is all but sealed, and they have little chance of usurping Derby County's lowest-ever points tally this weekend as they travel to the home of runaway league leaders Liverpool. This fixture arrives in between the Reds' two-legged affair with PSG, but the Saints still need a miracle to walk away from Anfield with anything but a resounding defeat.
Aston Villa have also been in Champions League action, and they somehow have a 3-1 lead to protect at Villa Park on Wednesday. However, Unai Emery's side have been awful away from home domestically. They're facing a Brentford side which hasn't won at the Gtech since 7 December, mind.
Saturday's action concludes at Molineux with what once looked set to be a crucial fixture in the fight against relegation. Wolverhampton Wanderers host Everton under the lights with a five-point buffer over Ipswich in 18th. Everton have been resurgent under David Moyes and have quickly moved to 32 points. They're 15 clear of the drop and may fancy themselves to make a push towards the top half.

Sunday 9 March
Thursday's European action means there are three Sunday games to enjoy this weekend. The pair of two o'clock kick offs arrive from the capital.
While fifth-place Chelsea, fresh off their win in Copenhagen, host a dire Leicester team, Tottenham Hotspur welcome Bournemouth to north London. Spurs, despite having eight days to prepare, fell flat in Alkmaar as they lost the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie to AZ 1-0. There's work for them to do in the second leg next week, and Ange Postecoglou will doubtlessly prioritise that fixture.
Arsenal ran riot in the week and secured a record-breaking 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven. They're now out for revenge against the Manchester United team which knocked them out of the FA Cup in January.
The Gunners won't enjoy the space-haven afforded to them by Peter Bosz's side on Tuesday, but they are up against a United team yet to find any sort of groove under Ruben Amorim.
Kick-off time (GMT) | Fixture | Prediction |
---|---|---|
14:00 | Chelsea vs Leicester | 3-1 |
14:00 | Tottenham vs Bournemouth | 2-2 |
16:30 | Man Utd vs Arsenal | 0-1 |
Monday 10 March
West Ham United's visit to St. James' Park was one of the few high points of Julen Lopetegui's tenure. Aaron Wan-Bissaka starred in a 2-0 away win.
Newcastle United enter the reverse fixture in a bit of bother having exited the FA Cup last weekend. They've lost three of their last four Premier League games and are edging towards putting many of their eggs in the Carabao Cup final basket against the best team in the country.
The Hammers have won back-to-back games heading into this Monday night duel.
Kick-off time (GMT) | Fixture | Prediction |
---|---|---|
20:00 | West Ham vs Newcastle | 1-1 |
