Premier League predictions: Gameweek 33

The 2023/24 Premier League season continues to accelerate towards what is shaping up to be a truly epic finale.

The title race could yet deliver more drama in Gameweek 33 as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all jostle for first place. With European qualification and relegation also still to be decided, there's plenty for teams up and down the land to fight for this weekend.

Here's 90min's predictions for Gameweek 33.

Saturday 13 April

Tottenham return to the scene of one of their lowest points in recent memory when they take on Newcastle at St James' Park in Saturday's early kick-off. Spurs were battered 6-1 by the Magpies last season, but the visitors will hope to inflict some punishment of their own against Eddie Howe's increasingly depleted playing squad.

Sitting nine points adrift of safety, it is truly now or never for Sheffield United if they are to compete in the top flight again next year. The Blades will be hit with a two-point penalty when they next drop into the EFL and defeat to Brentford could see them slip closer towards that fate.

Fellow relegation favourites Burnley have only been beaten once in their last four games but remain six points adrift of safety ahead of their clash with Brighton at Turf Moor. The Seagulls' campaign is in danger of fizzling out but they should give their run-in a shot in the arm with a slender away victory.

Mass starting XI changes are likely from Pep Guardiola when Manchester City take on 18th-placed Luton Town. The Cityzens have a return leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League to think about, but a rotated team will still surely have too much quality for the resilient Hatters.

Nottingham Forest will hope to move three points clear of Luton with a win against Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit have struggled to get any momentum together but home advantage could work in their favour against a similarly inconsistent Wanderers outfit.

Saturday's evening clash will see Manchester United travel south to battle Bournemouth. The Cherries won the reverse fixture 3-0 in December and may prove too tough an opponent to overcome again for the Red Devils.

Sunday 14 April

Liverpool will get the chance to respond most promptly to Man City's result when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield. The Reds lost at home for the first time in 2023/24 on Thursday in the Europa League and a major response is needed against the Eagles, who gave City a fright last week.

West Ham's continental hopes also took a hit in midweek with defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. However, they are still well placed to qualify for European football and should be able to see off a Fulham side that has won just two away league games all season.

The match of the weekend arguably arrives at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal and Aston Villa both endured sapping European contests in midweek but there should still be entertainment on offer in north London, with the Gunners likely to claim the points against old manager Unai Emery.

Monday 15 April

There's been little calm at Chelsea in recent months despite enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions. The Blues still need to secure a top-ten finish and will have to be wary of an Everton team that finally ended its winless run last time out.
