Real Madrid are expected to be without midfielder Brahim Diaz for several months after he suffered a muscle injury during the 2-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Brahim made his second start of the season on Saturday but lasted just 25 minutes before being forced off with a muscle injury that he had failed to run off.

Initial reports suggested Brahim's injury was a minor one - AS claim there was an optimism he would be back within a month - but the outlook changed rapidly following a series of scans.

Diagnosed with a long adductor injury, Brahim is now expected to face around three months on the sidelines.

Fabrizio Romano puts the absence at closer to two months, with fresh checks to be held next week to determine Brahim's recovery plan.

Brahim is not used to time in the treatment room. It is the first injury of his senior Madrid career and the first time he has been sidelined at all since March 2023, when a minor knee injury forced him to miss one game.

Not since February 2021 has Brahim missed a significant period through injury, but he is now set for the longest spell of his career out of action.
