Real Madrid fans have reason to be excited about the future following a glowing review of a 14-year-old in their academy ranks, who also happens to be the son of a club legend.

Enzo Alves, the eldest child of former Madrid left-back Marcelo, is causing a stir at Valdebebas.

AS writes that he is among those the youth levels that "generates the most expectation", noting a "very powerful physique" in the young forward for someone his age.

Alves has been attracting attention for a number of years already through social media clips and his rise through the age groups, having been with Real Madrid since he was eight, has been charted through occasional media reporting. He is known to be prolific, netting 105 times in his first 100 youth games, and has been labelled in the past by Marca as a "scoring machine".

Alves was born in Madrid in September 2009 and is therefore Spanish by birth. And while both of his parents are Brazilian – his mother is Marcelo's wife of 16 years, Clarice Alves – it is Spain that the youngster has so far chosen to represent at Under-15 international level.

Marcelo spent 15 and a half seasons with Madrid following his arrival from Fluminense as an unknown teenager in January 2007. He went on to make 546 appearances for the club, 12th on the all-time list and the highest non-European, by the time of his 2022 departure.

The left-back was club captain in his final year and won 25 trophies overall, including the Champions League on five occasions. When Madrid won their 12th European title in 2017, a drunk Marcelo was purportedly confused why his teammate were all celebrating in shirts bearing 12 – his squad number – forgetting in the jubilation (and intoxication) that it was the number of European Cups.
