Real Madrid have reached out to Vinicius Junior's representatives to determine the finances needed to extend his contract, a report has claimed.

Vinicius' current deal, which expires in 2027, was formally unveiled in October 2023 but was actually signed 12 months earlier, well before his emergence as one of the game's premier players. Now a Ballon d'Or candidate, Madrid want to secure Vinicius' long-term future as soon as possible.

It was reported last week that Vinicius had turned down Madrid's opening offer, although his stance is believed to revolve around the salary afforded to him and not any desire to leave the club - as he later confirmed after shining in the comeback victory over Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian officials are watching the situation closely. They have already been tipped to launch a world-record bid worth €300m, while a five-year contract worth a staggering €1bn is claimed to have caught Vinicius' eye.

Vinicius would rather not accept the Saudi offer but wants to see his status as one of the world's elite players rewarded by Madrid who, according to AS, have now reached out to determine what salary he is looking for.

Currently earning an average annual salary of €15m, Vinicius' camp have pointed to the finances handed to Kylian Mbappe. While the summer signing takes home a similar wage, Mbappe landed a signing-on bonus of around €40m when he joined last summer, setting the tone for their financial commitment to global superstars.

Madrid recognise they need to raise their offer to Vinicius and are looking to thrash out an agreement as soon as possible before the allure of Saudi Arabia grows too strong.
