Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn has extended his contract with the club following historic success last season.

The 41-year-old Swede landed the role in July 2023, making the switch from BK Hacken, and quickly made an impression with his attacking style of play in the Women’s Super League.

The new deal will now see him remain at Spurs until the summer of 2027.

During the first half of 2023/24, Vilahamn guided his team to an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions, before ending the season with a top six WSL finish for just the second time.

However, most notably he helped to create history for Spurs in the Women's FA Cup. The club reached the final for the first time after overcoming Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic, Manchester City and Leicester City in the previous rounds.

Although they ended up losing 4-0 to Manchester United, the occasion brought together over 76,000 supporters to Wembley Stadium in May.

Speaking in an exclusive interview to Spurs, Vilahamn said he intends to "keep building" on what the club achieved last term.

"The main thing if you want to reach the Champions League and win the titles, you need time," he said. "We are going to make sure we do it our way, develop players, and create an amazing environment so we can be on top for a long time.

"The club has given me time to create this, and they want to do the real thing hee. The talent in this group is already there, and we need to find the right level and develop to take it up a step."

He went on to reinforce the importance of developing the squad that already exists, while adding new players to the mix.

"The big plans for this year is to start on a higher level than last year,” explained Vilahamn. "Instead of trying to buy eight, or nine new players, we need to make sure we add a few new players to this group as I think you need that every year.

"The main thing is to take this team, the tactics, the way we speak and treat each other to the next level - push each other and have a better understanding of the goal model. We are going to keep building on what we did last year."
