Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has attracted the fury of a number of fans after a confusing update on his future at the club just days before the Champions League final.
With Kylian Mbappe's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu expected to be announced soon, Rodrygo's role as a regular starter in Carlo Ancelotti's side appears under threat and he has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Speaking to DAZN in the build-up to the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1, Rodrygo was keen to stress his desire to stay with Madrid but repeatedly rejected the chance to rule out a departure.
Asked whether he wants to stay with Madrid forever, Rodrygo responded: "Yes. Well... anything can happen. I have a contract here, but I don't know.
"The years I've been here have been a pleasure for me."
When it was pointed out that his comments could have Madrid sweating, Rodrygo once again refused to make any definitive statements.
"I've always said I want to be at this club, but let's see," he replied.
In response to Rodrygo's comments, Mundo Deportivo state that the 23-year-old remains a target for the Premier League, where Liverpool are leading the race for his signature.
The report adds that Rodrygo's entourage have quickly tried to cool the speculation by insisting the Brazil international does not want to leave Madrid, with club officials also keen to keep hold of Rodrygo despite Mbappe's imminent arrival.
Rodrygo's contract with Madrid still has four years left to run after he signed an extension in November 2023.
