The FA Cup third round arrived with a bang on Saturday, with a number of heavyweight Premier League clubs desperate not to slip up.

For Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, they encountered zero problems against respective lower league opponents Accrington Stanley, Morecambe and Salford City - an aggregate score of 17-0 showing the gulf in class between the top and fourth tier of English football.

Brighton & Hove Albion impressed with a thumping 4-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road, while Bournemouth also reminded everybody of their improving Andoni Iroala credentials by whacking past five past Championship promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

Leicester City and Nottingham Forest were the other Premier League winners - the former dispatching Queens Park Rangers handsomely while the latter saw off Luton Town - but there was a major shock in west London.

Plymouth Argyle, fresh off sacking Wayne Rooney, scored the only goal of the game to beat Brentford - a side with one of the most impressive home records in the Premier League. Morgan Whittaker was the matchwinner, finding space on the edge of the penalty area before rifling home into the bottom corner.
