Juventus winger Federico Chiesa is not close to moving to the Premier League this summer, 90min understands, despite reports of interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Chiesa has entered the final year of his contract in Turin and Juventus have made no secret of their desire to part ways with the 26-year-old. New manager Thiago Motta has openly admitted he is not planning with Chiesa in his squad.
Several top clubs across Europe have been linked with moves for Chiesa. A swap deal with Chelsea involving Raheem Sterling has been suggested but, while Juventus are interested in the 29-year-old, sources have confirmed to 90min that suggestions of a swap between the two clubs are premature.
Chelsea have already bolstered out wide through the signing of Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are also adding Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, and so the Blues are now set to focus on signing an out-and-out striker, rather than another wide player like Chiesa, even though he can also play as a forward.
Juventus have not yet made direct contact with Sterling's representatives, and although that could change in the coming days, Chelsea have also not spoken with Chiesa as it stands.
There have also been reports of interest from United, but the Red Devils are also not desperate to sign a new winger.
The Red Devils would only pursue a new wide player if they can sell either Jadon Sancho or Antony, but any funds raised from those sales would more likely be put towards their push to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain first on a loan with obligation to buy.
Likewise, reports of interest from Newcastle United are believed to be wide of the mark at this point.
As a result, Chiesa is expected to remain in mainland Europe. Barcelona are admirers of the Italy international but may struggle to get a deal done in the final days of the transfer window, with their focus currently on selling Ilkay Gundogan to raise the funds needed to register new signing Dani Olmo.
Chiesa does have interest from around Serie A, where rivals Milan and Inter are considering making a move, but the latter would need to make space in their squad through sales before being able to pursue the winger.
