Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of South Korean youngster Yang Min-hyuk on a six-year deal.

The 18-year-old will return to K League 1 side Gangwon FC before joining Spurs in January 2025 subject to a work permit and international clearance.

South Korea legend Son Heung-min is the club's current captain and Yang has been compared to the 32-year-old thanks to some glittering performances in the K League.

He was given the division's Young Player of the Month award for April, May and June and has started all 24 of Gangwon's league games this season, recording seven goals and three assists.

Should he make his first-debut for Tottenham, he would become the third Korean player in the club's history after Son and left-back Lee Young-pyo.

Spurs fans should get a glimpse of Yang's talents during the pre-season friendly against a K-League XI in Seoul on Wednesday, with the teenager expected to be included in the all-star squad.

His arrival continues Tottenham's steady summer transfer window which has seen young midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall relocate to north London, while Timo Werner has also returned on loan. Fringe players in the shape of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Rodon and Troy Parrott have been moved on.

With a number of international stars still out of the fold, the youngsters have had plenty of minutes during Spurs' pre-season so far. Gray and Bergvall have both impressed, while homegrown talents Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear have also caught the eye with goals in friendlies.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will hope the added squad depth will help his side as they attempt to build on a positive first campaign under his tutelage. Tottenham are back in the Europa League and looking to end their 16-year trophy draught.
