Manchester United have triggered Tottenham forward Celin Bizet's release clause as she closes in on a move up north before the summer transfer window comes to a close.

The 22-year-old played an instrumental role for Spurs last season, helping them write history by reaching the FA Cup final against the Red Devils in May.

Both parties are hoping to finalise the deal before United fly out to Marbella for a pre-season training camp in the next week, according to BBC Sport. It's understood Bizet has already undergone a medical at United after the club forked out around £600,000 to trigger her release clause.

Bizet made the move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Lilywhites ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. She began her youth career at hometown club Skedsmo before making her professional debut in the Norwegian third tier when she was 14.

Bizet went on to appear at every youth level for Norway and marked her senior debut at the age of 19 with a goal during a FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying match against Armenia in Yerevan.

Tottenham made huge strides last season under head coach Robert Vilahamn and will likely feel the loss of Bizet. However, the arrival of Australia international Hayley Raso over the weekend may have softened the blow.

Bizet is young and has a bright future ahead of her, something that would have attracted her to United in the first place. Despite being at the centre of controversy this summer, the club have announced a series of exciting additions, including Simi Awujo, Dominique Janssen, Melvine Malard, Anna Sandberg and Elisabeth Terland.

Manager Marc Skinner will be hoping United's new recruits can help them improve upon a fairly disappointing league performance last season which saw the club place fifth.
