Tottenham vs Brentford: Preview, predictions and lineups
- Tottenham take on London rivals Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday
- Spurs left it late to beat Coventry in Carabao Cup on Wednesday
- Brentford gave Man City a scare in 2-1 defeat last weekend
Tottenham just about avoided a crisis in midweek and are next in Premier League action on Saturday as they take on Brentford in N17.
Spurs, off the back of a disappointing North London derby defeat, performed as poorly as they've ever done under Ange Postecoglou in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Coventry on Wednesday night. They seemed destined for an early elimination before two late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson saw them undeservedly advance into the fourth round.
The pressure has been eased on Postecoglou for the time being, but the Lilywhites must be vastly improved this weekend as they face a physical and tactically astute Brentford team.
The Bees had less trouble in the cup as they eased past Leyton Orient 3-1 and Thomas Frank's side have made an assured start to the season. Saturday's visitors sit above Tottenham in the table having accumulated six points from their opening four games and gave Manchester City a scare last weekend before falling to a 2-1 defeat.
Here's 90min's preview of Saturday's Premier League clash.

Tottenham team news
Spurs were dealt an injury blow in midweek when Wilson Odobert limped off with a hamstring injury later described as "pretty significant" by Postecoglou. The Frenchman is expected to endure a period on the sidelines.
Timo Werner was forced off later on in the win over Coventry but was never likely to start this weekend anyway. Brennan Johnson should join Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke in Spurs' frontline against the Bees.
Richarlison remains sidelined for the hosts but there could be a return to action for Yves Bissouma, who's missed the previous two games with a knock.

Brentford team news
The visitors were dealt a big injury blow last weekend as it was confirmed Yoane Wissa, who's made such an excellent start to the season, will be out of action for the next two months with an ankle injury.
There were no fresh concerns from their cup win over Leyton Orient, though, with Wissa joining a long list of absentees that currently includes Josh Dasilva, Gustavo Nunes, Mathias Jensen, Igor Thiago, Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry.
In Wissa's absence, Frank will likely partner German speedster Kevin Schade with the ever-impressive Bryan Mbeumo up front.

Tottenham vs Brentford score prediction
Spurs will dominate the ball but their use of it in recent outings has been nothing short of woeful. They were stifled by Arsenal last Sunday, falling flat in a 1-0 defeat, and were even worse in midweek.
Ange has to go back to the drawing board becuase this Brentford team are primed for shunning outfits of Spurs' current nature. They'll be deep, physical and compact before springing on the counter-attack with their two leading threats up top. The visitors will also be well aware of Spurs' vulnerabilities from defending set-pieces.
This would be a tough game for the hosts even if they were full of confidence and a slog in N17 should be expected on Saturday. Perhaps they'll have to rely on more late magic to get over the line.
