Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly informed Liverpool of his desire to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The right-back is days away from entering the final six months of his contract and Madrid's interest in a huge free transfer at the end of the season has been known for months.
It was reported earlier this month that Alexander-Arnold, despite being offered a new contract with Liverpool, had been "seduced" by the idea of making the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.
MARCA state Alexander-Arnold has already made it clear to Liverpool that he wants to join Madrid, informing his current employers of his decision during their latest attempt to convince him to extend.
Liverpool wanted to enter 2025 with firm knowledge of whether a replacement for Alexander-Arnold would be needed, and it appears as though a new right-back will be on the shopping list over the coming months.
All eyes will now be on Liverpool as they decide whether to entertain offers for Alexander-Arnold in January or resign themselves to losing an incredibly valuable asset for nothing at the end of the season.
Madrid, for their part, will not instigate a winter transfer and will instead wait to see whether Alexander-Arnold is put up for sale, safe in the knowledge that his signing can be wrapped up in the summer anyway.
