Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed Harry Kane will miss the chance to face former employers Tottenham Hotspur in next month's pre-season friendly.
Kane picked up a back injury late in the 2023/24 season and was clearly below full fitness throughout Euro 2024, although he still managed to finish as the joint-top scorer with three goals for the beaten finalists.
Bayern have two pre-season clashes with Tottenham to look forward to, first on August 3 and again one week later, but Kompany has confirmed Spurs fans looking to get a glimpse of their former hero will be disappointed.
"Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won't be there," Kompany admitted.
The Bayern boss predicted Kane would be fit enough to return in the DFB Pokal clash with Ulm on August 16.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate confessed that Kane's back injury hampered his involvement at Euro 2024.
"Harry has come into the tournament having had an injury at the end of the season," he revealed after the final defeat to Spain. "He's played a lot of minutes. We've tried to manage those minutes as well as we could. He's led the team incredibly well.
"We've lost a lot of leadership from the group with the injuries to Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire, so a lot has fallen on Harry's shoulders."
Kane, who struck 280 goals in 435 games for Tottenham, will hope to return to full fitness in time to begin Bayern's upcoming campaign and maintain the form from his debut year in Munich, which yielded a stunning 44 goals in just 45 matches.
