West Ham 'agree deal' with Nice for Jean Clair-Todibo
- West Ham agree loan deal for Todibo including option to buy next summer
- Juventus also interested in signing former Man Utd target
- Max Kilman's arrival has already strengthened West Ham's defence
West Ham United have agreed a loan deal with OGC Nice for Jean Clair-Todibo, multiple reports have revealed.
The 24-year-old was previously a long-term target for Manchester United but a move to Old Trafford was ruled out after UEFA refused to authorise the switch, citing a concern that the deal would breach rules on multi-club ownership.
Juventus have also shown interest in Todibo this summer but reports in France, backed up by the Standard, state that West Ham have now agreed a loan deal with option to buy next summer for €32m (£26.8m).
There are conflicting reports over Todibo's preferred move – some outlets state that personal terms have already been agreed with West Ham while Fabrizio Romano reported early on Wednesday that the Frenchman was holding out for a move to Turin.
Whether or not Juventus have the financial capability to conclude a deal also remains to be seen, with players likely needing to leave the club before further signings can follow Douglas Luiz in through the arrivals door.
West Ham have already completed the signing of Max Kilman, who arrived from Wolves in a deal that could eventually be worth £40m, and Luis Guilherme – a highly-rated Brazilian wide player who previously courted interest from the likes of Chelsea.
The Hammers also want to strengthen Julen Lopetegui's hand up front and also at full-back. The 2023 Conference League winners have been negotiating with Aston Villa over a deal for Jhon Duran, but they are currently unwilling to match their £40m valuation of the 20-year-old Colombian forward.
Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another striker to have been linked, with a move to Newcastle United unlikely to happen at this stage because personal terms can't be agreed.
Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters is an option for West Ham at right-back, with a long-standing interest in Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka also still active.
