West Ham oversaw the end of an era to conclude 2023/24 with David Moyes leaving the club for surely the final time.

The Scotsman, who guided the club to Europa Conference League success in 2023 as well as the Europa League semi-finals the year prior, has been succeeded by former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui and the Spaniard arrives with heightened expectations.

There are factions of supporters keen to enjoy a more enterprising brand of football following years of canny pragmatism. While Moyes' reign was laden with highs, West Ham's performance last season was disappointing and there's hope Lopetegui is the man to get the Hammers competing for European places again.

The Spaniard is familiar with the Premier League, but he's got his work cut out if he's to translate his ideals across in time for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Here's how West Ham fared during pre-season.

Where did West Ham go for 2024/25 pre-season?

The Hammers announced the details of their 'Sunshine State Tour' back in May. They're one of many Premier League clubs that made the journey to the United States ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Their plans weren't quite as extravagant as some of their domestic rivals as they faced two middling Premier League outfits as part of the inaugural Stateside Cup.

West Ham visited Florida for the very first time having flown down under last summer.

It's been a pretty inconspicuous summer for West Ham thus far, with the Hammers' pre-season starting in Austria as they faced Hungarian giants Ferencvaros. Loptegui's side trailed 2-0 at the break before fighting back in the second half and eventually earning a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Danny Ings and Nayef Aguerd.

A strike from 24-year-old midfielder Andy Irving was the difference in West Ham's final domestic friendly before jetting off to the States. West Ham beat fellow east Londoners Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 on 20 July.

Their Stateside Cup campaign across the pond got off to a rocky start as the Hammers were beaten 3-1 by Wolves in Jacksonville. Mohammed Kudus netted for the Irons, but new Wolves signing Rodrigo Gomes scored twice in the second half to take the game away from Lopetegui's side. The Hammers then endured a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace to finish off their rather brief tour..

West Ham returned to London for their final pre-season outing before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa. The Irons faced Spanish side Celta Vigo and could only manage a 2-2 draw on home soil, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta getting on the scoresheet.
