Casemiro will only contemplate leaving Manchester United if the club makes it clear he is not in their plans, a report has claimed.

The midfielder has endured a difficult start to the 2024/25 season and was notably at fault for two of the three goals the Red Devils conceded in Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

Though the transfer windows across most of Europe and Saudi Arabia have closed, the Turkish window remains open for another week, and Galatasaray are interested in acquiring Casemiro.

However, ESPN write that Casemiro will only give consideration to such a move if he is told he is not in the club or Erik ten Hag's thinking.

Ten Hag defended Casemiro following his poor showing against Liverpool, and it is claimed both he and sporting director Dan Ashworth are against weakening the squad without being able to make an immediate addition to make up that shortfall. Nevertheless, United are open to 'realistic offers'.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Casemiro was against leaving United no matter what, so this suggests his stance has softened somewhat on leaving Old Trafford.

Galatasaray have already made a marquee signing in recent days, with striker Victor Osimhen joining on loan from Napoli.

Osimhen had hoped to leave Italy during the summer and was the subject of interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. However, agreements could not be reached with either club prior to the main European transfer deadline, thus leading to his move to Turkiye.

United and Galatasaray will both compete in this season's Europa League, though have not been drawn against each other in the league phase. The Red Devils will, however, travel to Galatasaray's bitter rivals Fenerbahce, who are managed by former boss Jose Mourinho.
