West Ham star reveals what Jurgen Klopp said in Mohamed Salah spat

Michail Antonio has revealed what some of his West Ham United teammates overheard during Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp's touchline spat in last week's 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

The Hammers held to the Reds to a 2-2 draw on Saturday to inflict the last decisive blow to the visitors' Premier League title hopes, with Klopp's side now five points off the pace set by leaders Arsenal with only three games left to play.

While there was plenty of focus on Liverpool's failed title charge, having lost the Merseyside derby at Everton a few days before, the disagreement between Salah and Klopp also went viral.

The pair were seen in heated conversation as the Egypt forward prepared to enter the action as a substitute. Klopp played down the incident but Salah said in the mixed zone: "If I speak today, there will be fire."

Now, Irons forward Antonio - who scored his side's equaliser after strikes from Jarrod Bowen and Andy Robertson and Alphonse Areola's own goal - has disclosed how the bust-up started.

He said on the Footballer's Football Podcast: "Basically - this is not inside information, nobody has told me anything. But what I have heard is what the boys have been talking about on the training ground.

"As the [Liverpool] players come on, Klopp always gives them a big hug and says 'good luck', but when Mo came on he walked in a different direction and was doing his shin pads and stuff like that.

"Klopp has put his hand out to him and his hand was there for a bit and as Mo stopped doing what he was doing, he just slapped his hand as a high five.

"Obviously Klopp didn't like that and he was like, 'Do you want to sit back down?', basically saying, 'Do you want to go on?' And nobody has told me what Mo said back."

There's speculation over where Salah's future lies with Klopp set to leave Anfield this summer. Saudi Pro League clubs have a known interest in the former Roma star but the Reds 'fully expect' their goal machine to stick around for another season.
