When does the 2024/25 Premier League season start?
- Fans are already excited for the 2024/25 Premier League season
- It's been a busy summer with some huge international tournaments
- Will Man City win the Premier League title for a fifth season in a row?
The 2023/24 Premier League campaign came to an all-to-familiar conclusion, and it didn't take supporters long to look forward to the new season.
There is, of course, plenty to come in between, with the small matter of the Copa America, European Championship and Olympics being played over the summer. On top of this, there will be the usual frenzy that comes with the summer transfer window.
However, while a small Premier League break can refresh supporters up and down the country, it won't be long before fans are champing at the bit for England's top flight to get back underway.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
When does the 2024/25 Premier League start?
The Premier League has confirmed the start and end dates for the 2024/25 campaign, with the season kicking off on the weekend of 17/18 August. It will cover 33 weekends and four midweek rounds before coming to a conclusion on Sunday 25 May.
There will be a little over a month between the end of Euro 2024 and the 2024 Copa America (both 14 July) and the beginning of the new Premier League season, with pre-season matches generally starting for the division's clubs in mid to late July.
Football at the Summer Olympics will come to a close on 10 August - just a week before the season commences - with Premier League players unlikely to get an enormous rest before the 2024/25 campaign.
Is there a winter break during the 2024/25 Premier League season?
There will not be a winter break next season due to the Premier League authorising an extended summer break which allows players greater time to recover during pre-season, despite extra playing time during summer international tournaments.
The season kicks off a week later than it did last season to facilitate recovery, while the winter schedule has also been amended with player welfare in mind. No team can play two matches within a 60-hour period this term, while there will also be no Christmas Eve fixture.
When does the 2024/25 summer transfer window open?
The 2024/25 summer transfer window will open in the Premier League on Friday 14 June and shut a little over two months later at 23:00 BST on Friday 30 August - two weeks after the Premier League campaign begins.
Fortunately, elite leagues across Europe - including La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga - will all see their windows slam shut on the same date, even if the exact time may differ.
When are the 2024/25 Premier League fixtures announced?
It's always an exciting day when the Premier League fixtures are officially released for the new campaign. For 2024/25, schedules were dropped on Tuesday 18 June.
Manchester City are chasing a fifth successive Premier League title and Arsenal will be hoping to stop them in their tracks, as will Liverpool in their first season without Jurgen Klopp at the helm in over eight years.
2024/25 Premier League Gameweek 1 fixtures
The ten fixtures on the opening weekend of the season will be spread across four days, with the new season getting underway at Old Trafford as Manchester United take on Fulham on Friday 16 August.
The schedule-makers threw up a tantalising affair to get the first Saturday of the season started, with Arne Slot's Liverpool starting on the road away at the newly promoted Ipswich Town. Kieran McKenna's side will be aiming to take a huge scalp on Matchday 1.
Arsenal's clash against Wolves at the Emirates is perhaps the standout fixture of the blackout slot on Saturday afternoon, with West Ham's meeting with Aston Villa in east London rounding off the day's action. Two compatriots Julen Lopetegui and Unai Emery will be marauding the touchline at the London Stadium.
Sunday kicks off with a London derby between what's set to be a new-look Crystal Palace and Brentford. After that, Chelsea, who faced Liverpool in their season-opener last season, take on the champions at Stamford Bridge. The Blues, amid an up-and-down campaign, took four points off Man City last term. Still, their opening bout is a monstrous test for new manager Enzo Maresca.
The opening weekend of 2024/25 rounds off on Monday Night Football at the King Power Stadium with Leicester quickly returning to the big time. With Steve Cooper now at the helm, the Foxes face Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham.

Which clubs were promoted for the 2024/25 season?
After a surprising relegation from the Premier League in 2022/23, former champions Leicester City return to the top flight. The Foxes won the Championship despite a late scare in the campaign, but could face a points deduction before the new season begins for alleged Financial Fair Play breaches.
Despite having only been promoted to the Championship from League One in 2022, Ipswich Town defied expectations to secure automatic promotion last term. They haven't featured in the top flight since 2001/02.
The last side to secure their return to the Premier League were Southampton, going up via the play-offs. After just one season back in the second division, Russell Martin's side beat Leeds United 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.
