After 37 matches and nine gruelling months of action, the Premier League title race came down to the final day.

Victory for Arsenal at Old Trafford ensured the Gunners would be in it until the last, but a seismic win away at Tottenham Hotspur two days later ensured Manchester City were in pole position heading into Matchday 38.

Success against West Ham United was rarely in doubt and a 3-1 win rendered Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Everton inconsequential as Pep Guardiola's side became the first team in English football history to win four straight league titles.

City have taken to the streets to start enjoying their unprecedented achievement, and here's everything that went down at the parade.

How Man City celebrated Premier League title triumph

City's win on the final day saw them pip a similarly imperious Arsenal to the crown. City supporters stormed the pitch after the final whistle, with the players returning to lift the title once the Etihad turf had been cleared.

Skipper Kyle Walker hoisted the trophy once the stage for the presentation was set up, with players then soaking in the atmosphere thereafter. Jack Grealish rather humorously attempted to operate a confetti gun and got there in the end after initial difficulty.

Once the players departed a Ibiza hits-infused dressing room, there were reports of a late party into the night among members of the City squad and their families. Manager Guardiola was also in attendance as the Cityzens made sure they enjoyed what is a remarkable achievement.

Man City's Premier League trophy parade

While City's campaign ended on a sombre note following defeat in the FA Cup final, thousands took to the streets to celebrate the club's fourth-straight Premier League title.

Their latest parade took place on Sunday evening, the day after their cup final defeat, and the weather Gods didn't exactly look favourably upon the Sky Blues as the City fans were forced to battle inclement weather in order to catch a glimpse of the celebrations.

The Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup were also on display as Guardiola's squad paraded through Manchester. The Cityzens started at the National Football Museum and wrapped things up outside the Hilton hotel on Deansgate.

The parade featured the usual Jack Grealish shenanigans as he was filmed sinking a bottle or two via chief pourer Kyle Walker. Grealish also tried his utmost to fall off the top of the bus on a couple of occasions, with Ruben Dias potentially saving the winger from Swanton bombing into the adoring City supporters below.

Guardiola didn't take the Grealish route and instead enjoyed himself by puffing on a cigar or two. Much has been made over the Spaniard's future, with some suggesting next season will be his last in Manchester. The City boss was keen to avoid discussion over his potential plan beyond City in a time of celebration.

"Even myself, I couldnโ€™t expect to stay here eight years but everything goes well," Guardiola said. "Step by step we are here. It looks routine but itโ€™s not routine."

The City boss could only laugh when shouts of "please stay forever" cried out from supporters, but he ominously noted: "We will be back next season."
