News that Alejandro Garnacho has put his family home on the market has been met with speculation that the Manchester United winger is preparing to leave the club.

Garnacho resides in the affluent suburb of Bowdon in the south of Greater Manchester, a stone's throw from neighbouring Cheshire and long popular with Premier League footballers.

He bought the luxury mansion for £3.8m in April 2024, but it was listed for sale at the end of March.

Given that Garnacho, who has struggled to find a role in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 that utilises wing-backs and not wide forwards, has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months, it raised some eyebrows. Chelsea and Napoli have been his main suitors.

One infamous tabloid that jumped the gun called it "a major hint he's ready to quit Red Devils", before clarification from a more reliable source shed light on the situation.

As a youth graduate representing 'pure profit' in Premier League PSR terms, and potentially surplus to requirements depending on how Amorim and the sporting hierarchy see things, Garnacho still isn't guaranteed to stay at United. But his living circumstances aren't a clue to his future.

The Manchester Evening News has explained that Garnacho bought the seven-bedroom house in Bowdon to reside under the same roof as his extended family. However, with his parents and brother having returned to live in Spain, the need for quite such a large property is gone. The Madrid-born Argentina international is instead seeking a smaller place for himself, partner and infant son.

Eligible to represent Argentina through his mother, Garnacho grew up in Madrid and was part of the academies at local sides Getafe and Atletico Madrid. He moved to Manchester in 2020 upon turning 16 and made his first-team debut less than two years later.
